Looking For Electric Brake Assembly For Dexter 3,000 lb Axles

Updated 04/29/2026 | Published 04/27/2026

Question:

Good Morning, Im trying to find replacement brakes for a customers trailer. Theyre Dexter 3k axles. Dexter Part number k23-476-00 and 477-00. Do you carry replacements for these? They seems to be more difficult to find due to the smaller width.

Hey Don, thanks for reaching out. We don't have that exact part number, but we do have an acceptable substitute. For their Dexter 3K axles you can use the following:

- Dexter Electric Trailer Brakes - 10" - Left/Right Hand Assemblies - 3,000 lbs # K23-472-473-00

These are the same 10" x 1-1/2" brake shoes and the backing plate uses a 4-bolt brake flange. It comes with both a right and left hand assembly.

We don't see these very often. What kind of trailer is it?

This is on a forest river rockwood mini lite camper. This might be the only time thay I've seen this size in 8yrs of RV repair

@Don Honestly, same. Its definitely an oddball size but fortunately we still stock them here.

@JesseM it looks like the trade off here is losing the self adjusting feature if im reading correctly. Because they are on NVR adjust axles

@Don Yes you are exactly right. The k23-476-00 are self-adjusting. The # K23-472-473-00 are manual adjusters so they will need to be checked and adjusted like once a year ish to maintain proper braking pressure.
