Question:

My door opening is about 25-3/8 inch, but between the sealing flanges for the screen door, its only 24-3/4. I have a 34inch entry height. Can I use LC791572 Steps?

Hi Mike, thank you for the photo!

Based on your measurements, the Lippert SolidStep part LC791572 is not going to fit your doorway because it requires a wider unobstructued doorway width than the 24-3/4 inches you have. Even though your overall opening is a bit larger, Lippert sizes these based on that inner measurement, and trying to use that step would likely cause binding or prevent the door from closing properly, which is exactly what you’re trying to avoid. We currently do not carry the Lippert option that fits your door frame.

The good news is your 34 inch entry height is right in the sweet spot for a triple step, so you’re on the right track there. Since your width falls just under Lippert’s minimum, a better option is the MORryde StepAbove part # MR48RR, which is designed to fit doorway widths from 23-3/4 to 26-1/4 inches. That puts you right in range so it will sit properly without forcing anything, and it still gives you that same fold-up-into-the-doorway style like the SolidStep. It’s also known for being a bit more forgiving on fitment and easier to install, which helps take some of the stress out of getting everything lined up just right.

I completely get wanting to be sure this closes clean without rubbing or needing to modify anything, and this is one of those cases where being just under the cutoff really matters, so going with the correct width upfront saves a lot of frustration later.

What RV do you have, and who’s using the steps most day to day?

Just make sure you have enough clearance under the door, I bought mine thinking I had enough space, I did not and now have a $500 garage ornament in my way. Lol

@TommyW I feel your pain! For these fold-up style steps like the SolidStep or StepAbove, you typically want at least about 27–28 inches of clearance from the ground to the bottom of the door when it’s open. Did you get the steps through us?

I'm meaning there wasn't enough space under the door between the door jam and the actual door. When I installed them and they was sitting level the door would not close. But yes I bought them threw etrailer.
