What Bug Screen Fits the Furnace Vent on a 2024 Eddie Bauer 310RL Fifth Wheel?

Updated 05/12/2026 | Published 04/25/2026

Question:

Hello I have a 2024 Eddie Bauer 310rl 5th wheel. I want a bug guard for the exhaust port on my furnace. Ive been unable to find a 2.5/8 most seam to be 2.8 and of course that would hang over the edge. Any help would be appreciated thanks..

Hello Richard,

It sounds like your furnace vent opening is measuring right around 2-5/8 inches, which can definitely make it seem like the standard RV bug screens are too large at first glance. The good news is that the Valterra screens # A10-1301VP are still designed to fit over the exterior flange of most Suburban and Dometic furnace vents, not just the exact opening diameter itself. A slight overhang is actually normal with these styles of screens and won’t hurt airflow or performance.

That said, I would actually lean toward the Camco RV Insect Screens # CAM42141 as the better option for your setup. They’re made of stainless steel, include the installation tool, and are designed specifically for most Duo-Therm and Suburban furnace vents. They mount using spring clips that grab onto the vent housing rather than needing to match the inner exhaust opening exactly, so the size difference you’re seeing shouldn’t be an issue.

A lot of RV owners run into this same concern because the visible exhaust tube measures smaller than the actual vent assembly the screen attaches to. As long as your furnace uses the common Suburban-style exterior vent, that slight overlap is expected and the screen will still install securely and work properly.

If you want to be extra sure before ordering, I recommend measuring the full outside flange of the furnace vent instead of just the inner opening. That outer measurement is what really determines fit. You’re also welcome to send over a photo of the vent and I can help confirm the best option for you.

What kind of trips are you getting your Eddie Bauer ready for this season?

All I did was to simply open the door to the furnace, put the screen over the vent and close the door. No other attachment is needed. The door holds the screen in place. I struggled with how to hold it as well until I did this. It looks good, doesn't stick out very far and is held in place well.
