Question:
how much clearance from the pin hole on this carrier

The Yakima EXO Swing Away Enclosed Cargo Carrier - 2" Hitches - 10 cu ft - 100 lbs # Y62VR provides only 4-1/2 inches of clearance from the center of its hitch pin hole to the near edge of the cargo tray. You can compare this measurement to your hitch and rear hatch to determine if the hatch can clear the carrier. You would measure 4-1/2 inches out from the center of the hitch pin hole and then use something like a yardstick and hole it vertically to see if it would clear. If it fits on your vehicle, it will definitely swing out of your way so you can get into your hatch.
If it does not fit, I would take a look at the GearDeck 17 # H00604. It has the closest edge of the carrier 14 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole. It does not swing away like the Yakima Exo, but it does slide away. It slides so that the closest edge of the carrier is 50 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole. This should be enough to allow your hatch to open.
