Is it possible to just purchase the tail light itself or do I need to buy the whole kit someone back into the tail light and cracked it I have the Cargo Carrier Light Kit For 52017 and 52018

Yes it is. Part # ST45RB is the Sealed, 4 inch Round Trailer Stop, Turn and Tail Light, Flush Mount, 3-Function and will replace your existing light.
