Question:
My tongue weight is 900lbs and I will be pulling a camper with an empty tongue weight of 665lbs. After the battery is installed and propane filled I’ll be right around 910lbs. My question is does these WDH configurations take weight off the hitch? Everywhere I search they say the weight is distributed but the weight is still 910lbs at the hitch. This does not make sense to me, so my question is, will this WDH reduce the weight put on my hitch? Thank you in advance. Chris

It sure does Chris. A weight distribution system like the Blue Ox item # BXW1006 works like a lever. The spring bars push up on your trailer's frame and this distributes the weight from your tow vehicle's rear axle and hitch forward to the front axle.
The Blue Ox item # BXW1006 bars that attach to your trailer's frame are using tension to lift up. Doing this raises up the the back of the tow vehicle, which takes weight off the rear wheels of the tow vehicle.
For a trailer with a 910 lbs tongue weight the Blue Ox SwayPro item # BXW1006 will work great. This system comes with a 2" shank and a 2-5/16" hitch ball. Please note you will need to have clearance 27"-29" back from the center of your coupler on your frame for the sway control brackets.
What kind of tow vehicle and trailer do you have?
