Empire Faucet EM54JR Is Leaking From Inside Faucet Housing - Should I Repair Or Replace?

Updated 04/17/2026 | Published 04/12/2026

Question:

I have a empire EM54JR which is a single hole and doesnt have any pull down and it drips underneath its mounting surface? The drips are coming out the bottom of the fixture down the water lines. What is the issue? And is it something I can fix? Thanks Jeff

Hey Jeff, good question. If the water is actually coming from the bottom of the faucet body and running down the lines, that’s usually a sign the leak is internal to the faucet itself, not the supply lines or fittings. On those Empire units, there isn’t really a serviceable cartridge or internal parts you can swap out, so once they start leaking like that, it’s typically a replace-it situation.

Before you swap it, it’s worth double-checking the basics just to be sure. Make sure the connections underneath are tight and not weeping, and that it’s not just water tracking down from the mounting surface or around the base seal. But if you’re confident it’s coming from inside the faucet housing, there’s nothing you can do to fix it, replacing the faucet is going to be the cleanest and most reliable solution.

What kind of camper is this going in?

Jesse M, The camper is a 2022 Gulf Stream BT Cruiser RV Ford E350SD. Will check your leak suggestions next week. Thanks Jeff P.S. If I need to replace it, my wife would like a pull-down but it would have to have two input lines with 1/2" male threads like the in the RV now. Is the model SL4000BN-A (EM42HR) a good choice?

@Jeff Hey jeff yes, the # EM42HR definitely checks all the boxes. It has a pull-down spout, single hole installation and standard 1/2" pipe threads on both lines. You may want to check and make sure the 17-1/2" height fits in your RV since its a little bit taller than the # EM54JR you have now. Provided the height is good yes that will be a great choice.
