Will Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Air Bags Affect Ride Quality on a 2024 Ford F-150?

Question:
I am really interested in purchasing your Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Air Helper Springs - Rear Axle Part Number: AL47PD. My only concern is that it will bottom out more frequently. I previously installed airbags were a rough ride and I had to remove them.

Hi Jose,
That's a great question. The Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 # AL47PD actually helps reduce bottoming out when you're towing or hauling by providing additional support to the rear suspension. Since you mentioned removing a previous air bag system because it rode too rough, I'm curious which system you had. Most customers running the LoadLifter 5000 at the minimum 5 PSI when unloaded report very little change in ride quality, and then increase the pressure only when carrying a load.
Before moving forward, I do want to confirm one thing. The # AL47PD will not fit F-150 models equipped with Continuously Controlled Damping (CCD) suspension or the Onboard Scales option. If you're not sure whether your truck has either of those features, I'd be happy to help verify it.
Out of curiosity, do you remember what brand of airbags you removed previously, and was the rough ride noticeable only when the truck was empty or even when towing?

I love my air lift 5000! They easy to install. I purchased to help with bouncing as your going down the road and level the truck/ more front tire on the road to help with steering while towing my travel trailer. I haven’t had any problems with the truck bottoming out with about 40lbs of air. Without the travel trailer I reduce the air to about 5lbs no bottoming out little stiff but after a while you get use to it, I don’t notice it anymore. Hope this helps. Mac

Hi Joe. I am very happy with the load lifter air bags. I had a different brand on my last pickup and at 25 pounds of air it rode rough. My 2025 F150 ride very nice empty with 10 pounds of air and also rides nice with 25 pounds of air while pulling my 9000 pound fifth wheel. The combination is very stabile on rough roads and traffic.

I have these airbags on a 21 f150 powerboost and love them, I will however say that I double checked with Etrailer to make sure these would fit my truck and was assured they would, half way through the install I realized the mounting brackets for the top on the airbag would not bolt up because the hybrid system was in the way, I ended up welding the brackets in place which was not ideal, no I would not recommend them for the powerboost, they do make a huge difference in ride quality when loaded heavy and personally I like them much more than the timberens I had prior to buying these, the timberens would cause my traction control light to go off when driving around some curves because it made the suspension so stiff.

I installed this on my 2022 F150 to level the truck when pulling heavy loads. I did notice that the ride is stiffer when the bags are aired-up...which it should be. You should not ever bottom out with air bags installed. I assume you are considering it for use when towing so you can level your ride. I keep minimal pressure in the bags when not towing so there is little difference in the ride when not towing because not much pressure in the bags.
