Updated 09/02/2025 | Published 08/07/2025

Question:

Can you provide a list of everything I will need to set up a 2025 Ford Ranger for flat towing. I like the Blue Ox products and I want a plug in and go braking system installed permanently, like the Demco kit offershydraulic brakes is all the wiring done on the toad or are there mods that need to be done on the RV as well. Thank you

Hey Chris! I can definitely help you get set up to flat tow your 2025 Ford Ranger. Blue Ox is great for the base plate kit and tow bar but I typically stick with Roadmaster for the wiring since they're the most reliable. I recommend the following:

-Blue Ox Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # BLU77ER

-Blue Ox Avail Non-Binding Tow Bar - RV Mount - 2" Hitch - 10,000 lbs # BX7420 (includes safety cables)

-Roadmaster Smart Diode Kit for Variable Voltage LED Tail Lights - 7-Way to 6-Way Adapter Cord # RM38FR

-Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-156-25

-Demco Stay-IN-Play Duo Flat Tow Brake System for RVs w/ Hydraulic Brakes - Proportional # SM99251

-Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit # RM64TQ

The Stay-IN-Play Duo for hydraulic brakes you referenced is my favorite permanent brake system so that is also a great choice. As long as you have a hitch and 7-way on your motorhome you don't have to worry about wiring on the RV side. If your 7-way doesn't have a charge line you will need to add the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Motorhomes # RM-156-75 as well.

Any trips coming up with your motorhome?
