Question:
I have a 2022 4runner with the factory installed 4- and7-way plugs. The problem is that the plugs are about 8 inches or so underneath the back of the truck which makes it somewhat difficult to access and the cable on my trailer barely reaches. Could I use this part along with some kind of extension cable to mount under the bumper? Otherwise, any suggestions? Thanks.

Welcome back Richard! The Curt Dual Connection Socket item # C36GJ isn't going to fix your issues but I have an option that will and you won't need to mess with an extension like item # C86DR.
The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package item # C55774 is going to be the best solution. The wiring and this connector are just over 15" long and are going to connect directly to your Highlander's factory tow package wiring. You'll be able to mount the connector in a better location with the included bracket.
What kind of trailer are you towing and did you reach up and see if there's any additional slack or cable tied up behind your connector?

Thanks. This looks like it would be a lot easier to install. Just so I’m clear, the harness plugs directly into the factory mounted plug? I don’t have to remove the OEM plug and plug this harness into the OEM harness?
