Replacement Air Lift WirelessONE Compressor

Question:
I have an AirLift wireless one system on my 2007 Tacoma for rear airbags for towing. It has the wireless remote. I don’t have the phone app. The compressor suddenly stopped working and the 15 amp fuse between the battery and the unit keeps blowing when I replace it. I checked the wiring and it all looks good. It was professionally installed more than two years ago. I checked the ground wirean and the one at the compressor actually sparked when I was removing it. I believe that also blew the fuse. I’m assuming this means there’s a short within the manifold or compressor, but I’m no mechanic. Any experience with this issue? Will replacing the compressor solve the problem? I haven’t reached out to AirLift yet. Thanks in advance.

Hey Travis welcome back! I recommend rechecking your power and ground wires on the Air Lift WirelessONE Compressor item # AL25980. You'll want to look for any cuts or tears and see if that's what's causing the fuses to blow out. A bad ground that's on a corroded rusty part of your 2007 Tacoma could be causing the issue too.
If that all checks out it's definitely time for a new Air Lift WirelessONE Compressor item # AL25980 because it sounds like you've got an internal error.
What kind of trailer do you tow and are you having these issues with your trailer hooked up and weight on your Tacoma or are you testing it without? Do you have a part number off of your compressor?

Thanks so much for the response, Jerred. After checking all of the wiring and giving it some thought, I bought a new compressor (just the compressor) directly from AirLift. It took about 20 minutes to remove the old one and install the new one. Problem solved! As a suggestion for anyone that has one already, or is thinking about getting one, I would not install it on the exterior of the vehicle unless you have it protected from the elements. Especially if they go off-road frequently. Mine was mounted horizontally along the outside of the chassis with self tapping screws. The amount of dirt that fell out of the ventilation slats when I turned it vertically pretty much said everything I needed to know. I think the compressor did what it could until it couldn’t do it anymore. I still love the airlift wireless one system and would recommend it to anyone in the market for one.
