Does Redarc Tow Pro Link Fit 2023 Chevy Traverse

Question:
For the past 10 years, we had a 2013 V6 Chevy Equinox LTZ. Our daughter has a NuCamp tear camping trailer stored at our house that we towed with the Equinox when she wanted to join us on camping trips I pull a 10K-lb., 37-ft. Rockwood conventional travel trailer with my 2018 GMC Duramax. Since the Equinox had no towing package, I bought a receiver and a 7-way wiring harness from eTrailer and installed them, and also bought a Curt Echo plug and playinch brake control module to operate the tears trailer brakes, to avoid having to mount a brake controller on the dash. The Curt Echo worked great, but on this particular trailer, its extra length when plugged in causes problems with the trailer cord length that has to be allowed for turns. At one point, the slack in the trailer cord got tangled and broke the weather cover off the 7-way connector when it snatched the Curt Echo out of the Equinox connector. We traded vehicles last month and now my wife has a 2023 V6 Chevy Traverse. The Traverse has the HD towing option and already has the receiver and 7-way connector, and it has Apple Carplay. I was considering buying the Redarc Tow Pro system to eliminate the cord problem caused by the Curt Echo when pulling the tear trailer, but according to the info that I have found here, the Redarc will not work on a 2023 Traverse equipped with the factory towing package. In this day and age of electronic miracles, I find that hard to believe!! Am I correct or am I wrong?

Hey Jim, welcome back! Sorry for the confusion but the Redarc Tow Pro Link part # RED57AR DOES fit your 2023 Chevy Traverse. This basically fits any vehicle with an active 7-way like what you have and also will integrate into the CarPlay dash display you have as well. If you liked the Echo you'll really love this brake controller as all around it performs better and is more reliable. Did you ever have any app issues with the Echo?

Jameson, thank you very much for your answer. I had absolutely no troubles with the Curt Echo's app or braking performance. I adjusted it to my preferences with the teardrop trailer (trailer slightly led the SUV braking) only once when I installed it, and it has worked perfectly for years, even if we don't turn on the older Iphone that we use for it. The only thing that made me consider the Redarc unit is that the A-frame on the teardrop has a front rack which also makes provision for a small generator, and it extends nearly to the coupler latch. The routing of the 7-way cord, in combination with the design of this rack, makes it very difficult to leave enough slack in the cord for turns, when the cord is plugged into the Echo unit, which extends the length of the connection. If I leave enough slack to allow for turns, the slack in the cord has gotten caught on that generator rack, and one time the trapped cord yanked the Echo unit out of the 7-way connector on the Equinox, breaking off the connector cover, which keeps the cord (or the Echo unit) from coming out of the connector. Fortunately, when it did that, we were pulling into a truck stop for a pit stop and meal, and the Echo unit wasn't dragged but a few feet on the concrete. I had to tie the Echo unit to the connector with zip ties for the rest of that trip. Other than that, the Curt Echo worked flawlessly for the teardrop, and gave me trailer brakes for the teardrop without having to mount a brake controller in the limited space of the Equinox. We just completed a 2-week camping trip in our Rockwood Signature, but our daughter did not accompany us, so we haven't pulled the teardrop with the Traverse yet. When I get some spare time, I will hook them together and see if the placement of the 7-way connector on the Traverse gives me a better position on the trailer cord, where the extra length of the Echo does not cause me problems with the slack like I had with the Equinox. If it still does, I'm definitely going to consider getting the Redarc setup. Thanks again for the info, Jameson. I'm no longer confused!!
