Question:
I have a 2021 Arctic Fox 29-5k with a solar system charging two 12v 300Ah batteries. The system is designed to run the main a/c when the inverter is on. I have a second a/c unit in the bedroom that is very loud. I just learned about these quiet DC air conditioners from you. I am thinking about replacing the bedroom unit with a DC unit that I could run quietly with the inverter off but think I’d need the 24v one. Am I correct in assuming I’d also need a 40 amp capacity 12v to 24v converter? Thanks

Hey Jascha, unless you wired your Arctic Fox up differently you would have 110 AC power to the AC unit in your bedroom and easiest solution for a quieter setup would be the Furrion Chill Cube part # FR49TD for a ducted setup or the part # FR27TD for a non-ducted setup.
The part # VE27QV is more intended for a vehicle that runs on a 24 volt setup. Do you have a DC powered AC unit currently?

Your headline missed a key point: solar. Yes I’m looking for a quiet unit but also one that uses less battery power. That’s why I was excited to learn about DC units. I was thinking about running DC to the bedroom so I could run that a/c with the inverter off and use less battery power. I would use the main ducted a/c during the day (with a lot of help from the solar panels) but switch to a smaller ductless DC unit at night to maintain the bedroom temperature when I find myself in a place where it doesn’t cool off at night. Would a 12v DC unit suffice? Or is the idea of running DC to the bedroom sort of ridiculous? Thanks, Jascha
