Can Curt Front Mount Hitch Hold 320 lbs On 2019 Toyota 4Runner

Updated 03/14/2026 | Published 03/10/2026

Question:

I’d like to mount this front receiver on my 4Runner to carry a 230 scooter with a carrier that weighs 90. The total of 320. Will this be safe and usable at that weight? The installer says no go. What say you?

Hey Tim! As long as your vehicle can handle it the Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver # C31076 will be able to. This has a vertical load of 350 lbs, so you're pushing it but not overloading. I do recommend using an anti-rattle like the # e38FV to cut down on any unwanted movement. Also, this is designed for TRD and SR5 models. If you have the limited you need # C31054 instead.

Rock on, brother. You made my day. I’m partially disabled so this will add a bunch of freedom for me. Thanks!

I put 200lbs of bikes and a 50lb bike rack in the front of my SR5 Premium. It worked ok but I started to notice a vibration coming from my front axels. I am looking into adding adjustable stuts to my front suspension to carry the load better.

I use the front mount hitch to hold a tall hang glider rack. Even that small weight change on the front is noticeable, though not a problem. For heavier loads I would recommend a pre-load spacer in the front struts to keep the vehicle closer to level. That's what I have, along with differential drop bolts, and it works very well.

Hey Tim I love my front 2" trailer hitch. I use it primarily for beach fishing and camping. The cooler has some weight to it but it certainly does not over load it. 2024 4Runner TRD There's no place to insert a picture otherwise I would. Good luck
