Troubleshooting N.C. Error On Digitrac II Brake Controller

Updated 03/06/2026 | Published 03/04/2026

Question:

I have a Digitrac II controller just installed in my 2002 GMC Sierra dually plugged into the factory module. The trailer brakes are working as they should however a solid n.c. is always displayed. When the truck is turned off, 0.0 blinks on the display. Defective unit?

Hey Lou, thanks for reaching out. Typically the N.C. code means the controller has power but isn't detecting the trailer. This is most often caused by dirty/corroded pins on your 7-way. If you have a trailer connected I recommend cleaning the pins of the trailer connectors with sandpaper to see if that fixes things. It's likely either that or a bad controller.

That Digitrac II brake controller has been discontinued for over 15 years, so its completely possible the controller just went bad due to age. If this is the case, your best bet will be to replace the controller with a new one like the Curt TriFlex NEXT Trailer Brake Controller # C63MV.
