Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2022 Chevy Trailblazer Carrying Thule Bike Rack

Updated 03/04/2026 | Published 03/03/2026

Question:

Hi, I have a 2022 Chevy Trailblazer and the Thule Helium Platform 2 9040 purchased from etrailer in October of 2020. I need a hitch for the Trailblazer and need to know which hitch will work with both the car and the bike rack. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!

Hey L.S. I would recommend the Blue Ox part # BLU42UR for your 2022 Chevy Trailblazer because it has the best weight capacities of all the hitches we offer for your vehicle and it is mostly hidden since only the hitch opening hangs below the rear bumper. I looked up the bike rack you have and while we don't carry it anymore it does fit 2 inch hitches like what this hitch is as well. How do you like the bike rack?

Hi Jameson, Thanks for the response on this. We've been very happy with the Thule Helium platform bike rack! Its light weight construction, ease of installation, and useful locking/securing features made it the perfect choice for step-through style bikes that otherwise hang awkwardly on traditional hanging racks. Regarding the Blue Ox hitch you suggested, is the installation set-up similar to the Curt? I'm asking because the shop I'm having it installed by is familiar with the standard Curt hitch. Also with this rack, I have to be sure that the hitch extends out far enough to clear the car's gate when in the upright position.

@LS glad to help! Yes the Blue Ox hitch part # BLU42UR that I mentioned earlier does install exactly the same as the Curt part # C93VV. This hitch also does stick out far enough that your Helium rack will clear the bumper and still work great.
