Hitch Cargo Carrier Recommendation with Ramp for Snow Blower

Updated 03/20/2026 | Published 02/27/2026

Question:

I have a lifted ford with an 8inch lift on it and wanted to add a trailer hitch mobility carrier for a snowblower. Any recommendations for either a cargo carrier with a long ramp? or a hitch to lower the carrier?

Hey Giovanni, we have one hitch cargo carrier that has a longer ramp that would work great for you with the Erickson # EM34JV. The platform of this carrier is 50 inch by 30-1/4 inch and the ramp length is 47 inches long. How heavy is the snowblower and what are its dimensions? This has a capacity of 400 lbs which should be enough.

I would need it to be a minimum of 30in wide and a max weight capacity of at least 300lbs or higher.

@GiovanniD I think the # EM34JV would work for you then as it's rated for 400 lb and the ramp dimensions are 47 inches by 30 inches.

Go, I use this platform to carry my wife’s mobility scooter. It weighs about 150 lb and is big enough to be awkward when trying to load it by myself. The platform is plenty strong and the ramp makes it easy to just drive it on. With the ramp stored upright, the scooter is completely contained inside the rails. I use just one ratcheting strap connected to the steel parts of the frame only, and it works really well. Also the hole the hitch pin goes through is threaded, which means when you crank it tight, any movement is eliminated. There is no movement or rattling of the platform tongue and it really feels solid. The only thing I added was a thumbscrew secured retaining ring to help align the pin hole in the platform to the hole in the receiver. Now the platform tongue slides into the receiver to the perfect position every time. Good luck!
