So will the BandW 3370 hitch work on a 2012 F250 short bed with puck system?

@DonaldT that extra information sure does make a difference. You can't use a rotating pin box with a sliding 5th wheel hitch so you will need the # BWRVK3300 instead. The other option is to lock out the pin box and then use the slider.

I actually can lock the the hitch so the turning point is at the slider hitch

@Don that is completely up to you. Locked out with a sliding 5th wheel hitch, fixed 5th wheel hitch with the pin box rotating, both are acceptable. Most people who have a rotating pin box stick with the fixed 5th wheel hitch since it is lighter and easier to deal with.

Hi Donald! We’ve had the B&W Companion hitch for our 42’ Columbus River Ranch for two years now. The B&W hitch build quality is great and it fits our 2022 F350 pre-installed hitch points great. Two things you may want to consider: In two years I’ve never had a tight enough turn that made sliding the hitch back mandatory. Not saying it won’t happen on a tight turn going forward, but not so far.. Secondly, the hitch is heavy! I use a small tractor and B&W lifting device to safely get the hitch into the bed. If you go with the Companion and plan to take the hitch out while on the road, have a strong partner/friend ready, or some other means of lifting ready!

While we haven’t used the slider function on our BW Companion yet it’s comforting to know the option is available if we ever need it. High quality product well designed and easy to use with the ford oem puck system, save needing a buddy to help lift the base in/out of our F350 as its heavy. The top piece (coupler) is easy enough for one person to lift. Write the torque spec for the coupler stansions on the inside of metal itself as a reminder of torque setting for the nuts. Any other quesrions let me know . Enjoy!

Have used B&W 5th wheel hitch for over a year on my 2024 F350 short bed. Did a cross country trip last summer for 9 1/2 weeks and the hitch worked great. I purchased the lifting device that clamps in the jaws of the hitch and use an over head drill powered winch to lift in and out by myself. The hitch is robust which also means heavy. No problems yet. Better than my last hitch in my old truck.
