Does B and W Gooseneck Ball for 2024 Chevy Silverado OEM Pucks have Movement

Updated 02/24/2026 | Published 02/19/2026

Question:

Yes, I own a 2024 Chevy 2500 with the factory 5th pre completed. I use the Reese goose box hitch but the goose ball I use seems to have some play in it when installed and used. I was wondering if the note below by one of your customers is still an accurate statement. The locking mechanism is great and an improvement over the hitches that have the lock release in the ball, however the hitch fits a little sloppily in the puck in my Chevy 2500. Considering how tight the turnover ball system fits together I expected similar performance with this hitch. Instead you can feel the hitch bump every time you take off or brake. Thanks,

Hey Raymond, in general the B and W gooseneck hitch ball part # BWGNXA2061 that you referenced is one of the best balls to fit your hitch and would provide a tight fit that would minimize bumps and noise. I found the review you mentioned and it's a 1 year later review and that makes me think his ball has some unusual wear on it or the ball bearing release mechanism isn't fully seating and is allowing movement and that is the actual issue. What gooseneck ball do you have currently?

It’s an off brand that came as a kit with the safety chain connections

@Raymond Gotcha. Sometimes you can get lucky with off brand stuff like that but a good portion of the time you end up getting what you pay for.
