Does Using B and W Continuum Weight Distribution System Allow for Towing Higher than Hitch Capacity
Updated 02/23/2026 | Published 02/19/2026 >
Question:
I have a 2020 Jayco Eagle HT. It has a dry tongue weight of 985lbs. Fully loaded I estimate the tongue weight to be 1200lbsish maybe more with payload in the truck box. My Silverado 1500 has a max tongue weight of 930lbs. Does this hitch reduce the weight strain on the trucks hitch to get the tongue weight below 930lbs?

Hey Tyler, this is a great question but what you will want to do is check the sticker on the hitch to see if there is a second set of weight capacities listed when using a weight distribution system. Often times you'll see a capacity for weight carrying which means no WD system, and also a second higher set that is listed as Weight Distribution. Most likely you would be fine but you'll have to confirm that with what your hitch states. Let me know what your hitch says on it.
