Will Dexter E-Z Flex Suspension Kit K71-652-00 Work On My Tandem Axle Cargo Trailer?

Question:

I have a tantrum axle trailer with 5200 lbs axles the spacing between my axles is 33-1/2 not 33inch the center support measures 5- 5/8 center hole of the eye to the center hole of the other eye, will the k71-652 kit work on my cargo trailer.

Hey James, thanks for reaching out. The equalizer that comes with the Dexter E-Z Flex Suspension Kit # K71-652-00 is 5-3/4" long and this will absolutely be a suitable replacement for your 5-5/8" long stock equalizer. The 1/8" difference is well within the acceptable tolerance so that'll work great as an equalizer upgrade.

The only think you will need to verify is the length of your shackle straps. The # K71-652-00 kit comes with 2-1/4" long HD shackles. As long as the stock shackles are also 2-1/4" long center hole to center hole, you can be sure the kit will work for you.

My trailer is a Freedom Tandem axle trailer, and yes my shackle straps are 2-2/4 center hole to center hole. My biggest concern was that my axles are 33 1/2"" apart and not 33" apart. I called Friday and was told by the lady that she didn't think that it would work. I sure wish that y'all would have answered my email quicker, because I would have purchased this kit from y'all, but I ordered the same junk under my trailer that it came with from someone else. In the future this company should respond to emails in a timely manner. Thanks James

@JamesT I gotcha. The axle spacing doesn't matter in this case. As long as you match the equalizer and shackle dimensions you can be sure the parts will work. A lot of manufacturers list the axle spacing but we pretty much never use that to find replacement parts. Also, sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. A few in our department are out at the moment so we are a bit backed up.
