Does B&W Tow & Stow Come In Other Ball Sizes? What Lock Can Be Added For Security?

Updated 02/11/2026 | Published 02/06/2026

Question:

What about other ball sizes e.g. 2inch and 1-7/8inch on the two-ball version? What would have to be done for security to lock the hitch?

Hey James, the B&W Tow & Stow ball mounts also come in 3-ball configurations like # BW64FR and # BW49FR. These have the same 2" and 2-5/16" balls, in addition to a 1-7/8" ball. That way you can tow any trailer without hassle, and still flip it down to the back when not in use so you don't hit your shins.

In order to prevent this high end ball mount from getting stolen, I'd add a lock like the etrailer # e98881 which fits all of the models mentioned above. It's a super common and reliable lock that we recommend for scenarios like this.

What kind of trailer(s) do you have, and what truck are you towing with?

How many locks will be needed to lock the mount to the receiver, the rotational element to the mount and the ball to the rotational element? Would they all be the same and can they be keyed alike?

@James Sorry I should've mentioned that if you want to, you can get this lock kit from InfiniteRule # 34061775-D which includes 4, so you can lock the ball mount to the hitch, and lock the ball in position so nobody can mess with it. They will all be keyed alike. You technically can order the etrailer locks keyed alike, however, I don't think those will be long enough for the other sections of the B&W tow and stow ball mount. So I'd recommend getting either one etrailer lock to save money, or the whole lock kit from InifiniteRule if you want the most tamper-proof setup.

Hey James, I’ve been using the hitch for the last 3 years and really enjoy being able to drop the tailgate without damage. I just use a lockable pin in the receiver without problem. The removable stainless steel pins that come with the hitch don’t really need to be locked because the assembly won’t come apart when it’s installed. The only thing to consider is that the ball doesn’t come up high enough for some trailers. I tow a 20’ car hauler. Hope that helps.
