Fifth Wheel Pin Box to Gooseneck Adapter for 2018 Grand Design Reflection 150 Series

Updated 03/04/2026 | Published 01/31/2026

Question:

I have a 2018 Grand Design Reflection 150 series 230RL with the Lippert turning point fifth wheel pin box. With a 2023 chevy 2500 with the prep puck package. My fifth wheel now sits level with my 2005 gmc and curt hitch with 6 1/2inch of bed clearance. My concern is even though the bed of both trucks sit 36 1/2inch off the ground the newer Chevy is 3inch deeper in the bed. Im afraid my bed clearance will be decreased by 3. Does Reese make a goosebox to replace this pin box? Also then could it also be used with a 5inch offset? Also is there a way to make more bed clearance and still keep the fifth wheel level? Thanks Paul

Hey Paul, welcome back! So we have a fifth wheel to gooseneck solution similar to the Goose Box that can replace the Lippert Turning Point with the Shocker HItch Quick Air Adapter part # SHK47YR which would work great for you. This has a similar air bag cushioning system to the Goose Box.

4-6 inches is the minimum bed rail to trailer overhang clearance we like to recommend so if you are at 6 inches and will be losing around 3 inches that would be too low. Best solution would normally be then a lift kit on the trailer like the Correct Track Kit part # RR23QX which will raise the suspension and help allow it to be towed level.

Hey Paul, how did things turn out with the Shocker Hitch Quick Air Adapter and the lift kit for your Reflection? Did the extra height give you the bed clearance you needed while keeping the trailer level? Your update could make it easier for others working through the same setup.
