Hi there, will the 900A or 1,200A work on hybrid vehicles?

Good morning Jeff! Yes The Projecta jump packs such as # VX95NR 900A and # VX63NR 1,200A work with the 12v battery on hybrid vehicles.

Even though the drivetrain is different, hybrids still use a standard 12V battery for starting and electronics. Projecta’s built-in protections make them safe to use on modern vehicles, including hybrids. They actually have a patent for this hybrid-compatible setup. It basically allows everything to communicate to get voltage to the 12v battery properly and wake up the hybrid to get back on the road, whereas some (not all) cheaper jump starters will never be able to wake up a hybrid vehicle.

If your hybrid is a larger SUV or has had battery issues before, I’d lean toward the 1,200A. What hybrid are you driving?

I really think hybrids are the best of both worlds. I owned a plug-in electric Cadillac ELR for awhile and it was fun, but got a little old so I'd get a hybrid next time around.

I’ve got a Toyota RAV4 Hybrid and was worried about damaging something with a jump starter. Is there any extra risk compared to a regular gas vehicle?

@Alex Good question, Alex - that’s a common concern with hybrids. Since you’re still jumping a standard 12V battery, the process is the same as a gas vehicle. The Projecta jump starters are designed with built-in protections so they won’t send power where it shouldn’t go. As long as you’re connecting to the 12V battery or jump points, it’s safe to use. A lot of issues people run into with hybrids come from cheaper jump packs that can’t properly wake the vehicle up, any hybrids having more electronics tend to be a little pickier, so that's why I'd go with this one instead. It will be able to put a lot of amperage back into the 12v battery instead of just a quick few second jump like other jump packs.
