Question:

Hey! Can these Projecta jump starters charge phones and stuff too, or are they just for jump starting?

Hey Natalie! Great question - and yes, they can.

Models like the Projecta 900A # VX95NR and 1,200A # VX63NR double as small power banks with USB outputs, so charging a phone, tablet, or GPS is no problem. That’s especially handy on road trips or during power outages.

Just keep in mind, using USB power does drain the internal battery a bit - but again, once you jump a vehicle, the pack recharges itself automatically. That’s something cheaper units don’t handle nearly as well. They also come with the usb cord to charge it in the car or at home if you care to top off the jump box battery that way.

Do you see yourself using it more as backup charging and power for phones and accessories, or mostly just insurance for a dead battery? I could see this being handy for camping or towing if your trailer battery ever dies and you don't have a way to power your lights or appliances, and you could top off the jump box battery by plugging into the vehicle.

That’s awesome. If I use it to charge my phone a few times, will it still have enough juice to jump the car?

@Natalie Oh yeah definitely. Light phone charging won’t be an issue at all. The jump starter still keeps plenty in reserve to start the car, and one successful jump usually tops it right back off from the alternator anyway. If you want to be on the safe side you can watch to make sure to stop charging your phone/electronics once the pack hits the Yellow battery level. That way you will have peace of mind if you need to jump start a vehicle that same day.
