Replacement Axle for a Boat Trailer

Updated 02/10/2026 | Published 01/14/2026

Question:

I have an old shoreline trailer that need a new axle from hub to hub. A 14 foot boston whaler sits on the trailer. Is it possible to make a trailer axle for me? Please inform me if this is possible. If it is possible, I will send you the measurements.

Hey Ed. We do not make axles. In order to recommend a replacement axle, I'll need to know the hub face and spring seat measurements along with the axle's capacity.

I've attached a diagram below that will show you where to take these measurements from.

As far as matching up to your existing hubs goes, I'll also need to know what size the inner and outer bearings are. If you need to replace the hubs, I'll need to know your lug nut pattern and whether or not it has brakes.

I've linked an article below that will show you how to measure your lug studs.

Hey Ed, were you able to get those hub face and spring seat measurements for your Shoreline trailer axle? Once you have them, I can help narrow down the right replacement. Let me know what you find—I’m here if you need a hand sorting through the options.
