Upgrade Options For Older WFCO WF-8945-AD Power Center With 45A Converter Section In RV

Updated 01/13/2026 | Published 01/07/2026

Question:

My RV has a WFCO WF-8945-AD power center and slow battery charging. Is the PowerMax PM47VR a better option? or will it be the same?

Hey Brandon! So the PowerMax # PM47VR is the direct replacement for the WFCO WF-8945 and WF-8945-AD power centers, so if you want a true like-for-like swap, that’s the equivalent option. It keeps you at a 30-amp AC power center with a 45-amp DC converter, just like your original setup.

That said, since you’re already replacing the entire power center, many people in your situation choose to step up to the PowerMax # PM67VR, which fits the same style opening but increases the DC charging capacity to 55 amps. This can make a noticeable difference if you’ve added batteries over time or run heavier 12V loads, while still keeping the same 30-amp shore power service.

Both options give you the full AC breaker panel and DC fuse panel in one unit - the main decision comes down to whether you want to stay at the original charging capacity or take the opportunity to upgrade while you’re in there. I'd definitely opt for the latter option.

What kind of batteries are you running now, and how do you typically use your RV when you’re plugged in?

I’ve got two batteries now and we do some dry camping, so charging speed matters more than it used to.

@Brandon That’s exactly where the # PM67VR makes sense. Having two batteries, the extra charging capacity is noticeable and worth doing while you’re already swapping the panel.
