Building Conversion Van - PowerMax 12V DC Converter To Charge Batteries When Hooked Up To 120V AC

Question:
I’m building a van conversion and already have a DC fuse block installed. Can I just add a PowerMax converter to handle shore power charging?

Yes, Amanda - that’s exactly how these are meant to be used. A PowerMax converter like the # PM44VR 60 amp can be wired into your existing DC fuse block so that when you plug into shore power, it supplies 12V power to your system and charges your batteries at the same time.
When shore power is disconnected, your batteries automatically take over. Just make sure the converter is mounted with proper ventilation and wired with appropriate cable size for the amperage you choose. This is especially important on DIY stuff like this.
What type and size batteries are you running in the van? And just out of curiosity, is this your first time doing a conversion like this? We have heard of lots of folks doing this over the years and its always neat to see!
