Options for Carrying Cargo While Towing a Lightweight Trailer

Question:

do any of your cargo carriers not only mount into a 2inch receiver, but have a 2inch receiver on the other side of the tube, for a lightweight trailer? thank you.

I may have a solution for you, however, we do not have any hitch mounted cargo carriers that have a 2 inch receiver for a ball mount for a trailer. I am not aware of any other cargo carrier manufacturers that offer this feature. The problem that you will run into is that the tongue weight for the trailer would be too far back from the trailer hitch which puts additional torque and stress on the hitch, vehicle frame, and cargo carrier. Even with a seemingly light tongue weight, the distance from the hitch applies more leverage than it would closer to the hitch. It is similar to using a pipe extension on a wrench to break a rusty bolt.

If you are not carrying anything on the roof of your vehicle, you may want to look into adding a roof rack and a roof basket like the Thule Roof Mounted Cargo Basket, # TH859XT. If you can tell me the year, make and model of your vehicle, I would be happy to give you a few recommendations.
