We’re looking for more cargo space in our 2025 Kia Telluride. would it be better to add a roof rack and cargo box or go with a hitch setup?

Good question, Eric - both setups have their place, but it depends on how much weight you plan to carry. A roof rack and cargo box work great for lighter gear under about 150 lbs total, but going heavier than that can affect your Telluride’s center of gravity and roof structure.

A hitch-mounted carrier on the TowSmart # TS84ZR is the safer, stronger option for anything bulkier. It’s rated for 500 lbs tongue weight and keeps the load low to the ground, which means easier loading, less wind drag, and better vehicle handling.
The cross tube is hidden behind the bumper, so the receiver looks clean when not in use, and it won’t interfere with your spare tire.

If you ever decide to tow later, you can add the Curt Wiring Harness # C93FV (for LX/S trims) or # C29ZV (for other trims) and the Ball Mount Kit #989891 to complete your setup.

What kind of cargo do you usually bring on trips - camping gear, coolers, or family luggage? If you don't have a hitch carrier yet, you can use the 23x47 Carpod Cargo Carrier w/ Sidewalls and lid # M2200-01-02
