Can PullRite SuperGlide 5th Wheel Hitch Hook Up At An Angle

Updated 11/21/2025 | Published 11/11/2025

Question:

Looking at Part Number: PUL28RR. Can a 5th wheel camper be hooked up if one is backing in at an angle rather than parallel with the camper? If so what might be an acceptable range of angle?

Hey Bill! The PullRite SuperGlide 5th Wheel Hitch # PUL28RR really can't be hooked up at an angle. According to the manual, "the truck and trailer centerline must be within 10 degrees of each other." This is pretty typical for a sliding 5th wheel hitch like the SuperGlide.

A lot of people make the switch to a gooseneck pin box like the MORryde GooseTech 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box # MR37MV so the angle doesn't matter. These are pin box and GVWR specific so if you want to go that route it would be necessary to identify your pin box. This can be tricky with a short bed truck but may work with an offset ball like the # GY83XR.

What kind of 5th wheel are you towing?

Thanks for the feedback. After some research, I purchased the Pullrite OEX Superlight system for the RAM. I will be towing a 2025 Grand Design Reflection (295RL) with this system and anticipate I should have good clearance. I don't expect I will need to make 90 deg turns as I pulled a travel trailer previously, which also cannot make 90 deg turns.

@BillM that is a nice system too. Make sure you measure, or at least test it, before you head out anywhere so you know your limitations and don't have an expensive "whoops" moment.
