Question:
Hi. I am looking for an auto slider fifth wheel hitch for my Ram 3500 short bed mega cab. It’s a 2026 dually With the oem pick system. I currently have the bandw companion but the manual sliding action makes me nervous. The fifth wheel is a Montana 3100RL with the CURT Helux pin box. I’m reading about the Pullrite and it looks good. Can you confirm fitment and any other Options that I should consider? Thanks!

Hey Greg!
Yeah the B&Ws are super nice and we don't hear many complaints, but I understand what you're saying about the manual sliding being annoying. The auto slides like PullRite and Demco Autoslide are a nice upgrade.
For your 2026 RAM 3500 short bed, I'd look into the PullRite SuperGlide 5th Wheel Hitch for Ram Factory Prep Package - 24K # PUL28RR. This will fit right onto your OEM pucks without any modification or other parts needed. We just started carrying PullRite awhile back after years of wanting to get them added, because their products are super good quality and very sought after, even in the used parts market. Also, since you have the Curt Helux pin box, you'll want capture plate # PUL68MR.
I think you'll like how this has a forward to back sliding travel of 18" which is really impressive. The Demco is still good, but it's a bit less at only 14"; you'll get a little better turning clearance with the PullRite. Both are about the same quality and similar price though.
I will say that one drawback is that the PullRite has a fixed hitch height of 16-3/4", while the Demco like # DM89GV can be adjusted to 16-7/8", 18-3/8", and 19-1/4". This might not be a big deal to you, especially if you are able to adjust the pin box a little bit.
Let me know what you think! Where do you plan to take the RV?

Hi Greg, I'm using PullRite SuperGlide 5th Wheel Hitch for Ram Factory Prep Package - 24K and love it. We have a Ram 2500 Short Bed 6.7L with factory puck installed, install was easy. It allows us to make 90 degree turns and never come close to the cab, it slides automatically so I never have to stop and pull or release anything. We have an Alliance 5th wheel trailer and it pulls so nice. Randy

Hi Greg: I also purchased the PUL28RR - PullRite SuperGlide 5th Wheel Hitch for the Ram Factory Prep Package - 24K. I've had it for about a year and I pull our fifth wheel once or twice a month. It fit perfectly into the my 2024 RAM 2500 short bed and I love that it slides back and forth automatically without a problem. When I turn it slides back far enough to completely clear my cab. I honestly have nothing negative to say about the PullRite Super Glide. You won't be sorry for making the purchase. Tom

Hi again Greg: I forgot to mention that instead of a capture plate, I use the "wedge". Either option will work fine with the PullRite SuperGlide 5th Wheel Hitch for the Ram Factory Prep Package - 24K. Tom

I have a pole Wright super glide for my rig. I drive a ram 3500 Dooley diesel. I haul a raptor 420 toy hauler 45 feet long. I ordered the super glide from Paul Wright thinking I would end up with a shorter bed truck. That’s why I got a super glide. In reality, I ended up with an 8 1/2 foot bed. Not something a super glide is needed for. Well I like it. It serves its purpose. It does make me a little bit nervous. Cause as I pull around the corner, my rig stays in place until the super glide is fully engaged and then it starts pulling it. That big thump makes me nervous. I am looking to get rid of my super glide and go to a standard BMW because I have an 8 1/2 foot bed. Super glides will work fantastic. I believe in anything that is shorter than the 8 1/2 foot bed. Mine is a puck system and I love it. I got the catcher plate that fits on my rhino box just fine. Super glides are a great way to go if you have a short bed. The automatic slide is nice. Knowing that BMW is one that you have to manually disengage could be an issue if you have a short bed.

I just bought, installed, and used the PUL28RR from here. You'll need the correct capture plate that fits your Curt Helix. If you have any questions about which it the correct one, both E-Trailer and PullRite are very helpful. My final correct plate was the one PullRite told me to get. I am very happy with the performance of this hitch compared to the Andersen Ultimate that it replaced. It actually improves the turning radius, particularly when backing as it slides the nose away from the pivot as well as clearing the cab. My piece of mind is so much better now. Chucking over expansion joints is very smooth compared to the Andersen, which I thought was a solid pull. The beast is heavy putting in and taking out. Get two or three strong helpers for the install if you do it yourself. " Good luck and safe travels!
