How To Tow 5th Wheel Trailer That Has Lippert 1116 Pin Box With A Gooseneck Ball In Truck Bed
Updated 10/30/2025 | Published 10/29/2025 >
Question:
We hardly use our fifth wheel anymore because the hitch eats up all our bed space and when we need to move it around, it's too heavy with my husband and I. Is there a way to tow it with the gooseneck ball we already have in the bed? Hubby thnks it's the lippert 1116 whatever that means

Hey Janice! Yes, that’s exactly where gooseneck-style pin boxes shine. MORryde makes the GooseTech # MR77MV for trailers with a Lippert 1116 pin box, which replaces your current setup, so it hooks right to the gooseneck ball. You’ll ditch the bulky 5th-wheel hitch, gain full bed access, and the built-in rubber cushion smooths out the ride. It’s a real upgrade both in comfort and convenience.
The Lippert 1116 is a very common OEM style pin box that goes on quite a few brands of 5th wheel trailers, so it's very likely that you have this setup. To verify, check out the attached article on this page which covers the different bolt patterns.
