Will The B&W Continuum Weight Distribution System Work With A Straight Tongue Trailer?

Updated 10/31/2025 | Published 10/28/2025

Question:

Does the bandw continuum work on an I beam trailer for towing cars? I have a 2025 f150 powerboost and Ford says not to tow anything over 5k lbs without a weight distribution hitch and cant find any that are shown on an I beam frame only on tube frames.

Hi Cole!

The B&W Continuum Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control for 2" Hitch - 16K GTW, 1.6K TW # BW78FR does have to be used with A-Frame trailers do to how the hydraulic system attaches. The only way for it to technically fit would be to cut a fairly large hole in the frame for it to go through, which I very strongly discourage doing.

That doesn't mean we don't have an alternative for you, but you will need to go with something more tradition with a pole tongue adapter (like the Reese # RP58393 as an example). If you let me know the loaded tongue weight of what you are towing, I can definitely find you a good option.
