Updated 11/03/2025 | Published 10/28/2025

Question:

I have a 2024 Jayco Eagle HT with Dexter Tow Assist. Would the 3.5K ABS brakes be a direct replacement for my tandem axles?

Hey Andy! Great name by the way.

Yes, the Jayco Eagle HT models with 3,500-lb Dexter Tow Assist axles use the 10 inch # DX73WR assemblies. They bolt up to the standard 4-bolt flange and plug straight into your trailer’s brake and ABS harnesses. If your axle tubes measure about 2-3/8 inch in diameter, that confirms the 3.5K size just in case you weren't completely sure.

Are you planning to do both axles at once? That’s usually the best route for even braking.

Other Jayco owners - how’s your Tow Assist system been performing on longer hauls?

Thanks Andrew! I went ahead and ordered the DX73WR set and everything lined up perfectly. The green light came back on right away. Do these need any kind of reset or calibration after a few trips?

@Andy That’s great to hear, Andy; sounds like your install went exactly how it should. Nope, no manual calibration needed. The Dexter Tow Assist runs a quick self-check every time you power the trailer up. If you’re seeing that solid green light, it’s already communicating with both wheel sensors correctly. After a few miles, it’ll automatically adapt to the new brake shoe wear pattern. If you haven’t yet, go through Dexter’s 20-stop burnish process to help seat the shoes evenly - it’ll make them feel smoother and extend their life.
