Recommended Timbren Silent Ride Suspension for 2-3/8" Axles

Updated 10/29/2025 | Published 10/25/2025

Question:

I have a small Meerkat travel trailer, about 1300lbs, empty. It has a single axle torsion bar suspension 35k that apparently cant be aligned, the insides of the tires are being worn out. I am interested in installing a Timbren axle-less suspension. Would this work, what would you recommend? This would be a diy project and a little concerned about the alignment process. Thanks

Hey Ron. The Timbren Silent Ride Suspension item # TSR3500S04 would be a great way to replace your torsion axle and I do recommend. The alignment process is detailed in the installation instructions, I have linked below. I also attached a screenshot. You'll need to ensure your frame is straight and do some math. You'll also need to pick up a 2" x 2" hollow steel crossmember. This is going to keep the suspension aligned after you install it on your trailer.

How wide is your trailer and how long of an axle are you looking for?

You can add this information and any other questions you have where it says Reply to Jerred H and I'll be happy to answer them.

Jerred, thank for the response. The axle/hub assembly is all part of the torsion bar, so not reusable. So I need something with an axle and hub. I was thinking I need something like this https://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Axles/Timbren/A20RS545.html ? From end of hub to hub is about 58-59 inches. The existing torsion bar is bolted to the frame about 39 1/2 inches wide, Outside of trailer width is about 5 ft 2 inches (very small trailer). The existing torsion bar is bolted from the top, looks like the Timbrens bolt from the side, I assume I can get that to work. Let me know if you need any other information, I do have pictures. Any other suggestions or recommendations are appreciated. Thanks again. Ron
