Question:

Can I use this as a plug and play replacement for my penguin ii? It's the same capacity and ducted. I would rather only swap out the AC unit on top. Thanks.

Hi Jim; I'm sorry to say the GE Appliances Low-Profile RV AC # GE43ZR cannot be used to replace your Dometic Penguin II. I'm sure your existing AC is an old R410A unit. Everything switched to the new R32 refrigerant this year to follow the new EPA guidelines. Since parts aren't backwards compatible, and the R32 works differently, complete system replacement will be necessary no matter what brand it is. You can choose from the following based on color:

-GE Appliances Low-Profile RV AC w/ Heat Pump - Ducted - 15,000 Btu - White # GE38RR

-GE Appliances Low-Profile RV AC w/ Heat Pump - Ducted - 15,000 Btu - Black # GE26RR

These come with the AC unit, air distribution box, and a wall thermostat so you will have everything you need for installation. This AC unit sits at 11" tall and comes with a 2-year warranty.

What kind of motorhome or trailer do you have?

The EPA strikes again! I had a feeling that was the case based on what I saw, was hoping I could avoid it but oh well. Wouldn't hurt to replace everything at this point anyway, thanks for your help.

@Jim I understand, had to tell a lot of people the same thing this year. It would be nice if you could swap out the top unit but it can't be helped. Let me know if you need anything else!
