Question:
Im looking at the High-Low Fixed Adapter for Tow Bars - 2 Hitch - 2 Rise/ - 10K GTW. I want to bring the truck and trailer hitches in line with each other along with getting just a little more distance between the trailer and the truck. Also please explain to me what the term flat towing means?

Hey Jay, the etrailer High Low adapter part # e85ZV that you referenced is designed for use when towing one vehicle with another vehicle. This is what flat towing is. This is a situation where there is basically no tongue weight as all since a vehicle is supported with 4 wheels unlike a trailer where the front of it is supported but the trailer hitch of the tow vehicle. This specific adapter is designed only for flat towing so a better option would be the # HES0 which was designed for towing a trailer with.
Keep in mind that these do cut the capacity of the hitch they are used in by 50 percent due to added leverage and movement.

Thanks Jameson That’s exactly what I was trying to find out. So what I understand is, I would have to have a solid tow bar instead of the design of this extension. Instead of flat towing, I need a tow bar that is weight-bearing. Am I understanding you correctly? Tell me what that might look like and if there is such a tow bar that is weight-bearing? Thank you Jameson for getting back to me so quickly, Jay
