Finding a Replacement Door Lock for a 1980 Trillium Camper

Updated 11/13/2025 | Published 10/21/2025

Question:

I have a 1980 trillium trailer. I have heard that certain replacement locks for the Bargmann L400 don’t work on Trilliums. Do you have any knowledge around whether Trillium owners have gotten this to work? Much obliged,

Hey Colleen, thanks for reaching out!

What is the cutout size for your door lock? I was watching some videos on the internet that showed '70s and '80s Trillium campers and those showed some pretty big plates that the locks were built into - much bigger than the Bauer Products European Style RV Entry Door Lock # BA38AR you're looking at.

Something like the Bauer Products Camper Door Lock # BA65FR which fits a 5-1/4" wide x 4-1/2" tall cutout would be geared a little more towards the size you're needing, but I'll need to know what the cutout size is on your camper before I can really dig into this.

I will say, I like the style of the Trillium! Have you owned yours the whole time, or did you pick it up recently?

Hey Colleen, did you get a chance to measure the cutout size on your Trillium’s door lock? Once you have that, it’ll be easier to confirm whether the Bauer lock fits. Let me know what you find—I’m here if you need a hand narrowing it down.

@JonG hi jon, I was asking if, to your knowledge, any Trillium owner has gotten this to work. It would require a lot of drastic changes to the door and I’m trying to find if anyone has had any luck. Thanks for your reply Colleen
