Question:
Hello, my name is Craig and I have a question. I had a Reese 5th wheel hitch installed by the place I bought my RV. I’m not crazy about it. I didn’t not have the pucks in my truck so the had to put the rails in it. Is there another hitch the would attach to the rails that has been installed. If so, could you recommend. I was told it was going to be a BandW patriot hitch but…… Thank you for you time and help!

Hi Craig!
Reese uses industry standard rails for their 5th wheel hitches, so you have a lot of options available to you. It's a bummer they didn't go with the B&W, because they are the best ones on the market, at least in my opinion. So with that said, here are the ones I recommend:
Short Bed: B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider - Dual Jaw - 18,000 lbs # BWRVK3270
Long Bed: B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - Dual Jaw - 18,000 lbs # BWRVK3255
B&W hitches are expensive, but they are American made, built to last, have life time warranties, and are just easier to use. You can literally use a finger to release the jaws and or slide lever. They are 100% my preferred 5th wheel hitches.
However, they are not light due to that whole being built to last thing. That is good, but it does make them hard to take out of your bed. If you are leaving it in your truck full time, you won't need this. But, if you will be taking it out with any kind of frequency, I recommend also grabbing the B&W 5th Wheel Lifting Device for Companion and Patriot Hitches # BWRVXA3130. This can be attached to a winch or cherry picker/engine hoist to make lifting it a lot easier.
What kind of 5th wheel did you get?

Hey Craig, how did things turn out with the B&W Patriot hitch for your truck’s rail setup? Did it give you the smoother operation you were hoping for compared to the Reese? Your update could make it easier for others deciding between these two hitches.
