Question:

BWRVK3400-5W. CAN THIS HITCH ALSO WORK WITH FACTORY FORD INSTALLED 5TH WHEEL GOOSE NECK PREP PACKAGE? OR DOES IT NEED TO BE YOUR ATTACHMENT? HAVE TWO TRUCKS F250 SHORTBED THAT IM INSTALLING THIS INTO, BUT IN 5 MONTH NEW TRUCK COMES IN WITH PREP PACKAGE WOULD LIKE TO JUST TRANSFER THIS HITCH OVER TO NEW TRUCK.. ANY HELP?

First, let's start with if you can use a sliding hitch in a long bed, and yes you definitely can, you simply won't use the slide feature but otherwise it will work exactly the same. As for the hitch and base rails, I highly recommend the B&W Patriot, with the correct parts for your 2021 Ford F-250 Super Duty being the following:

I really like the Patriot because there just isn't a better overall value for a 5th wheel hitch. B&W is highly regarded in the industry for their quality, and the Patriot is no exception; as such we have around 300 reviews of the # BWRVK3270 (as of this writing) and it has a nearly 5-star rating. That quality, combined with a very good price point (relative to 5th wheel hitches, of course) is why the Patriot is such a good value.

The quality of the Patriot (which is rated for 18,000 lbs) is most noticeable due to its 3/4" thick jaws which are designed to be very tight and in full contact with the king pin. The hefty jaw system ensures the king pin is totally stable in the hitch, so you're getting much less back and forth movement of the king pin in the jaws than other hitches with meeker jaws. This means your ride is going to be much smoother and more stable with the Patriot than with other hitches.

Finally, the base rail kit installs in your F-250 without any drilling whatsoever, which is great for your truck and also a big time-saver. Yes, there is help; the Companion w/ Slider # BWRVK3400-5W cannot be transferred to your F-350 long bed with the prep package as-is, but what you can do is replace the sliding portion with legs if you want to go that route. Otherwise, you can go with the B&W Patriot w/ Slider # BWRVK3270 and use an adapter for the F-350 with the puck system when you get it.
