Recommended Curt Helux Pin Box for a Rhino Bolt Pattern

Updated 10/15/2025 | Published 10/13/2025

Question:

I have a 2022 Vanleigh Beacon 39 FBB Length: 39’8” Hitch Weight: 3,100 CCC: 3,300 Dry Weight: 14,700 GVWR: 18,000. The fifth wheel pin box is the CURT Rota Flex rated for 21,000 lbs. I am told it has the Rhino bolt pattern. 1.I want to replace the hitch with the Helux, preferably the gooseneck. 2.This requires removal of the B and W Companion hitch and replacing it. Can I replace it with the CURT Spyder Gooseneck Hitch 25K? 3. Because it has to be attached to existing fifth wheel hitch rails, can new rails be purchased so I coud sell the B and W? To keep the process simple, I am thinking that I should go with the Helux Fifth Wheel Pin Box and stay with the existing setup. I am trying to improve the ride and reduce chucking and vibration. I am also considering replacing the leaf spring suspension and the drum brakes with disc brakes. Do you have any recommendations? At this point, I am looking at the MorRyde Independent Suspension system that would be installed by MorRyde. These are multiple questions and I appreciate any direction/recommendations you are able to render. Thank you very much.

Hey Russel, thanks for the pictures. The Curt Helux Shock-Absorbing 5th Wheel Pin Box item # C65MJ is the correct one to replace your Rota-Flex with a Lippert Rhino bolt pattern. It has a standard 5th wheel kingpin. There are no gooseneck options.

You can continue to use your B&W Companion 5th wheel hitch with the Curt Helux Pin Box item # C65MJ. You won't need the Curt Spyder item # 16085 at all so no need for 5th wheel rails.

We do not have the MorRyde Independent Suspension system but that looks like a great setup. I do not have an alternative I would recommend that will be better or even comparable to that. Looks like you can upgrade to disc brakes while you're at it too.

Are you wanting to switch over to a gooseneck connection?

Thank you, Jerred for the guidance. I have ordered the Curt Helux Pin Box #C65MJ recommended in your response. I decided to stay with the fifth wheel pin box to keep it simple since I don’t need to use the truck bed for anything but towing the RV. Upon installation and use, I provide a review.
