Hi Barry!

We have two baseplate options available for your 2008 Chevy HHR SS:

Roadmaster EZ Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # 523159-1
Blue Ox Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # BX1685

I think the Blue Ox one looks a little better than the Roadmaster, so that is probably the one I would go with. Do you already have tow bars as well? The Roadmaster option would need the etrailer XHD Non-Binding Tow Bar for Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plates - 2" Hitch - 10,500 lbs # e64ZR and the Blue Ox option would use the etrailer SD Non-Binding Tow Bar for Blue Ox - 2" Hitch - 6K lbs # e47ZR. It looks like going with the Blue Ox base plate and our tow bars will be the lesser expensive option currently as well.

Final question, do you have the other parts needed to set up your HHR for flat towing? Like the wiring and braking system.

Lazer S thanks for the help. I have a blue ox tow bar already. Part number for wiring system would be nice. Also my (new to me coach) 05 country coach appears to have the Air Force One system braking control. What parts would I need for the HHR SS to complete braking system. Thanks

@Barry Since you already have the Blue Ox tow bars, definitely go with the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # BX1685. You won't need any adapters or anything to get it connected. For the wiring, you will want the following: Hopkins Custom Tail Light Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles # HM56100 Roadmaster FuseMaster Fuse Bypass Switch for Towed Vehicles - 20-Amp ATM Mini-Fuse # RM76511 Having the Air Force One on your new RV will also help and save you a little money, which is always a plus. To get your HHR working with it, you will need the Second Vehicle Kit for Demco Air Force One Flat Tow Brake System # SM99209. Oh and if you need new safety cables, you can also grab the Blue Ox 7' Safety Cables - 7,500 lbs - Qty 2 # BX88196. If your current ones look good though, you can skip these. That should cover everything, but if you have any other questions or anything, just let me know! : )
