Looking for Longer Wheel Stud for Trailer Hub
Updated 10/30/2025 | Published 10/01/2025 >
Question:
I have 6 on 5 1/2 trailer hubs, there were vortex/dexter brand with the twist-on plastic caps. My old trailer hubs I guess had thicker walls for some reason. I have cap over rotors and aluminum wheels and can only get 7 full turns with my lugs on the new hubs and I realized the studs are 1/4 inch shorter than my old ones. Im trying to see if these DE53GR studs listed on your site would be a good replacement for the studs on my new rotors.

Hey Robert, the wheel stud part # DE53GR is longer than what you have and would work great to get more threads on your lug nut. These are about 1/2 inch longer than what you have now.

Hey Robert, how did the longer wheel studs work out on your trailer hubs? It’d be great to hear if they gave you the extra thread engagement you needed. Your update could make it easier for others dealing with the same issue.
