Recommended Upgraded Sway Bars for a 2001 Ford F-350 Dually

Updated 10/02/2025 | Published 09/28/2025

Question:

I am looking to purchase front and rear extra heavy-duty anti-sway bars for my F350 crew-cab 2001dulie. I have standard units on it now 1-1/16. It is equipped with a cabover-camper, and I tow an enclosed car carrier with it. I need to stop its swaying down the road. it has a heavy-duty steering stabilizer on it now. What more do you have to recommend for anti-sway?

Hey Robert, welcome back! I've got options to update your front and rear sway bars but which one you need for the front is going to depend on whether or not your 2001 Ford F-350 dually is 4WD or 2WD. I have listed the options below:

Front End Sway Bars

2WD - Hellwig Front Anti-Sway Bar - 1-1/2" Diameter item # HE72MR

4WD - Hellwig Front Anti-Sway Bar - 1-1/2" Diameter item # HE63MR

Rear End Sway Bar

Hellwig Big Wig Rear Anti-Sway Bar - 1-5/16" Diameter item # HE64MR

Have you ever looked into airbags or another form of spring support system?

I have installed heavy duty over-load springs and new shocks. The issue is the sway allowed prior to the spring' engagement when the camper is lightly loaded. Do the suggested front and rear bars fit on a truck that is four-wheel drive in addition to being a dual rear axel? Thanks Robert

@RobertC Yes, they do. Those sway bars listed above all fit the dually model. I recommend looking at the SumoSprings Rebel Custom Helper Springs item # SSR-101-47-2. These are going to engage when weight is placed on the rear of your truck. The more weight the more they engage. These will kick in before your leaf springs. They're independent and really help with that top heavy swaying feeling of an in bed camper. The best part about them is they won't affect your ride comfort when you're not hauling your camper.
