Question:
I would like to pull a trailer with brakes I have only a 4way flat connector which I installed like 10yrs ago. I know I need to install a brake control and a 7round plug in back what I am asking is I have a connector mounted under dash for the trailer controllerfrom what I see here rectangle grey connector six wires 1st row blue, green, red 2nd rowwhite, brown I checked it has the wires I need for the plug that connects to the Prodigy control I just cannot find it in back in factory wiring where I connected the 4flat. Do you know where it is or do I have to just run a new line for the brakes from the controller and put a circuit breaker in it? Thank you

Since your truck is apparently not equipped with the factory 4-way connector, the brake controller output wire has not been run to the rear of the truck.
You will need the 4 to 7-way trailer connector adapter, part # 37185 and the brake controller wiring adapter, part # 3035-P. The adapter would plug into the connector under the dash, and the other end would plug into a Tekonsha Brake controller, or if you have another brand you'd just cut off the black connector and wire it to the controller. Instead of connecting the blue wire from the controller to the adapter, attach a length of 12 ga. wire and route through firewall under vehicle to trailer connector at rear. A circuit breaker IS NOT required in this circuit.
The trailer connector adapter would plug into your existing 4-way connector, with the remaining wires connecting as follows: The white wire would ground to the vehicle, the blue wire would attach to the brake controller output wire that you have ran from the brake controller. The black wire would be extended to the positive battery terminal, via a 40 amp inline circuit breaker, part # 9510. This circuit provides 12-volt power to the trailer for any accessories requiring power. The purple wire is typically tapped into the reverse light circuit for the reverse lights on the trailer (if it has them). If this circuit is not needed, the purple wire can be capped off.
