Question:
I have a 2012 f250 6 3/4foot bed without a prep package, setting up to tow a 7500lb fifth wheel travel trailer and retain my functionality of my truck when not towing. I am looking at a BW turnoverball system GNRK1111 coupled with a gooseneck to fifthwheel convert-a-ball CAB-C5G. Would I need a kingpin instead of the gooseneck ball that comes with the BW? This gooseneck adaptor is plug and play? I would also need a 6 pin relocator correct c56070? Any other parts I would need to complete this install? thanks, Adam

Hello Adam, thanks for reaching out. The B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch # BWGNRK1111 is correct for your 2012 Ford F250 with the 6-3/4' bed.
The Convert-A-Ball Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter # CAB-C5G can work for adapting it to a 5th wheel trailer, but in full honesty, I am not a big fan of this adapter. It can be a pain to get installed right, and it can make the ride quality way worse. It also can destroy your gooseneck ball. They can work in a pinch, but this is not something you would want to use if you will be towing frequently or over long distances/rough terrain.
A better option for a 5th wheel connection is the B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # BWRVK3400-5W. This will be a much more robust, reliable 5th wheel connection. It even has a slider to help with clearance on tight turns. There is a non-slider version available as well. The only downside of this system is the weight. The hitch itself weighs about 275 lbs, so it can be tough to get in and out of the bed. You can easily detach the head from the base which helps with lifting weight.
Another good option would be replacing the pin box on your 5th wheel with a gooseneck pin box. This would allow you to keep full bed access and would not require dealing with a heavy 5th wheel hitch. We would just need to determine the pin box size currently on your camper.
If you will be towing frequently, the B&W or gooseneck pin box will be the way to go.
You will want the 7-way extension # C56070 to relocate the 7-way to the bed of the truck.
How often will you be towing? Are you full time?
