Question:
I hope this is not duplicate, it looked like there was an error when I first sent this. Looking for help ing leaf springs. I have a boat trailer that we move a small wooden sailing dingy . The boat is home built and the directions claims to be 300 pounds but with gear i suspect it is a bit more. I have a 1974 Calkins trailer with a gawr of 1500 and a gvwb of 1500 I followed your page in measuring the leaf spring and have the following data : - Eye to eye 25 7/8” - WIdth 1 3/4” - Height of spring? Roughly 1” when loaded - [Flat length along curvewhen loaded 27” center eye to eye It is a single leaf. One ply thick I believe the axle is diameter is 2”. If I am correct and assuming that the GWR of 1500 means that it’s capable of 1500 pounds, I suspect I might want leaves smaller than that as my load is always much lighter. Can you help me locate replacement leaves? I want to replace both. Also, I suspect I should be purchasing new U bolts to attach the new leaf to the existing axle. I appreciate any guidance you can offer! I live in St. Louis city, it is I hope that I can go out there tomorrow or Saturday to pick up these new leaves from your warehouse.

Hello Jay, thanks for reaching out. So we do offer leaf springs that would work for you length-wise, but the weight ratings might be a tad higher than what you are looking for. For example, the 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring # e77SR is rated for 1,000 lbs, and meant to be used with a 2,000 lb axle. So these would definitely fit in your suspension, but they would be rated higher than your GWR which could mean a more rough ride. This would be the closest thing we have to what you need.
That said, we do not do any will call pickup here at our warehouse in Wentzville. We can ship to you though and if you are in St. Louis that shouldn't take long.

Hey Jay, did you decide to go with the 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for your trailer? I'm curious if the higher weight rating affected your ride, as your experience could be really helpful for others in a similar situation.
