Will Gooseneck Adapter Fit a Gooseneck Ball on a CM SK Flatbed on a 2013 Ram Truck?

Updated 09/13/2025 | Published 08/26/2025

Question:

I have a 2013 Ram mega cab dually pickup with cm SK flatbed with recesssed gooseneck ball. I was looking at these conversion setups to pull a fifth wheel camper and I was wondering if the offset one would work in my application or if it would catch on my bed? The straight one Im sure would work but being a short bed I was worried about clearance issues

Hey Jim, great question!

The Convert-A-Ball Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter # CAB-C5GX1216 has some height adjustment in it so that part won't be an issue. The thing you'll need to check on is the clearance you have inside that recessed gooseneck hitch area. If you check out the linked photo you'll see that from the center of the hitch ball to the furthest point out on the base is 5". If you can ensure that much clearance around the hitch ball in that recessed area then you'll be good to go! This is actually the case for fitment with both the offset and the non-offset versions.

The Ranch Hitch # AM3139 has a much smaller profile so it will have an easier time fitting, and I'm attaching a dimensional photo for that as well.

Do you think one of these will fit your setup?

Hey Jim, did you have a chance to check the clearance around your recessed gooseneck hitch area? I'm curious if the Convert-A-Ball or Ranch Hitch worked for your setup, as it could help others with similar trucks.
