Hey Bud, RV awnings like the part # LC730492 are designed to attach to the structural framing of the RV similar to how you try and nail into a stud in your wall when hanging something heavy if possible. No additional bracing is generally needed. How long of an awning are you looking for? The part # LC730492 is a 16 foot awning.
